Bunting Cake Topper - DIY!

What a cool idea, and it seems easy enough to do! Click here to find out how!

Vintage, Literary Wedding!

Very cool wedding from theknottybride! I love the typewriter and book stack centerpieces!

Thank you cards idea from theknottybride

This idea TOTALLY goes along with my tag save the dates and funbooth!
How cute!

Guestbooks Done!

So, I wanted to re-create some guest books that I've seen online.

Why "re-create" them?

1. To save money. The two beauties above cost about $60 total.
2. Use my creative energies.

So, I bought poster boards and whipped out the paint and brushes... Total cost of re-creating both? $2.00

I die-cut our initials and a heart to add to the tree...
Clearly, it looks painted (opposed to stamped, like the original), but now it's become more sentimental because I painted it myself.

I LOVE DIY!

Tablecloths/Runners

So, I did a sketch for the "head table" tablecloths, as well as runners for all guest tables:

Lovely Little Details (see Knotty List) featured a table runner giveaway today from TheShabbyChicCottage.

This is totally what I was aiming for when I did my sketch! I really like how the cream-colored material is gathered! Of course, if you're halfway decent at sewing, a project like this could probably cost half the price. However, time is money. It may just be worth your time to buy pre-made from this adorable ETSY shop...

Bolero? Sash? Bolero/Sash Mix? HELP!

So, I've got a sketch for the sash I'm going to make. I'm thinking a tan/taupe/latte color for the actual satin sash, with feathered edges...

After seeing the boleros on BHLDN, I looked some up on ETSY.
Here are a few I like, but I need help!!!!!

With the sketch above in mind (along with my dress and shoes - see below), does anyone have any favorites?

This one runs about $36 from Australia. I like the cream-centered flower, but it's the type that you wrap around your neck and tie in the back (opposed to the ones that have sleeves).

This one runs for $77.

This one is $85. I like that it's two-toned, but I wonder if the lace and the sash will be too much.
This one is $83. The opaque fabric is raw silk.

BHLDN!!!

Goodness gracious great balls of fire!! It's LIVE!! A blossoming bride to be can now say that her wedding is authentically 'Anthro'!

The website is gorgeous (obviously)!

I was thrilled to see that the "Cover-Ups" section was filled with boleros. I've seen them all over ETSY over the past few months but wasn't sold on one. I mean, just because Anthro has them doesn't seal the deal, but it does add extra appeal.

If BHLDN is still too pricey, ETSY has tons of stuff just like it... for less.

Mmmmmm.... Chocolate!

I've been craving chocolate lately, so when obese this recipe, I was truly overjoyed (... and then hungry!)

Fashion

I keep finding things I love, but I'm hesitant to make a lot of purchases now in case my tastes and styles change. I heard on Morning Edition this morning (listen below) that companies from all over the world (fashion, furniture and beyond) get together in Europe annually with the color-producing company Pantone to discuss the spectrum of colors that will trickle into our living rooms and wardrobes that year.
It's kind of amazing that a group of people in a room determine the colors that people will like each year. And I say "people will like" because I always find myself falling for these colors I never even gave a second glance! Darn their effective presentation! So, it's no coincidence that you can find the same color across brands!!! We are all slaves to fashion...

This year's color (see more):

These are the colors for fall (see more):

I'm already falling for Cedar, Coffee Liquer and Nougat... Although, it's not like these colors didn't exist before this meeting, right? It's not like they invented it!
(Oh, that's just my last thread of individuality revolting. Don't worry - it'll pass as soon as I get my next salemail!)

BHLDN LEAK!!!!

Anthro's line, BHLDN (which is supposed to sound like "beholden") has given the world a peek during this year's Fashion Week. Glamour has all the details (the bottom left pic is from greenweddingshoes.com)...

Save the Date: First Sketch

I LOVED this DIY idea from 100layercake.com:

So, I drew up something similar that reflected our theme (It's a rough sketch...):
I might do the heat-embossing with the tree stamp. I also may move the little twig from the top of the tag to somewhere else. For the paper clipped clipping, we may use pages from a vintage book, maps, or music sheets...

For the text, I'm torn between these two:
(My favorite.)

(His favorite.)

ANY THOUGHTS?
